Dr. Mamie C. Chan

Dr. Mamie Chan, daughter of Dr. Tony Q. Chan, grew up working every summer in her father's optometric practice. She attended Sandia High School in Albuquerque, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class with honors. For her undergraduate school, Dr. Chan attended the University of Arizona and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance. She was on the Dean's Honor List all four years, and received scholarships and grants based upon academic performance. In Arizona, Dr. Chan was committed to the community, and was involved in numerous organizations such as Academic Peers for Excellence, a mentor for Minority Student Affairs, Pio Dessimo recreation center for children, a volunteer for Arizona Cancer Center, a founding member of Arizona Students in Action, membership in Blue Key National Honorary, social and business fraternities, as well as the U of A women's soccer team.

Dr. Mamie Chan attended her father's alma mater, Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where she was on the Dean's List and received clinical honors. She received the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Scholarship based upon academic performance. Her clinical rotations were both diverse and challenging, she traveled to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, Rhode Island Veteran's Administration Hospital in Providence, Illinois Center for Rehabilitation, a low vision facility. At her rotations, Dr. Chan became proficient in the areas of contact lenses, pediatrics, vision therapy, ocular disease, and low vision Her knowledge of the most progressive technology and research has been an invigorating addition to Eye Care For You P.C.

Dr. Chan is currently the Vice-President of the New Mexico Optometric Association, a member of the American Optometric Association, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance Albuquerque Lodge, and has done volunteer work for the Rio Grande Zoo, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.
